Performs setup and operation of specialized non-destructive test or measurement equipment to produce electronic images of oscilloscope or computerized images of materials/parts to locate unacceptable conditions. Included in the equipment is microprocessor controlled automated ultrasonic systems. Also requires experience in operating and evaluating materials/parts using radiographic methods to locate subsurface defects, and the liquid penetrant method to locate surface defects.
Must be capable of providing on-the-job training to others who are in the process of gathering experience in any of the methods described herein. Develops procedures and processes. Performs tests or inspections and collects data. Documents, analyzes and communicates results and assists with corrective action recommendations. Provides feedback on adverse trends. Responsible for non-destructive testing and acceptance of repairs to company products. Conducts certification preparation training.
Must possess the necessary skills/experience with ultrasonic equipment to inspect various metallic and composite materials/parts for flaws. Must be able to evaluate results to predetermined criteria and determine whether the material is acceptable or rejectable. Such flaws include cracks, porosity, inclusions, delamination, etc. Must be able to operate x-ray equipment, and evaluate images. Must be able to follow safety guidelines. Be able to inspect various types of parts/assy's using liquid penetrant equipment. Must be capable of detecting and identifying flaws, utilizing a basic knowledge of defects in metallic and non-metallic materials. Must be able to pass a vision exam.

This position supports multiple programs at the Space and Intelligence Systems Facility in El Segundo, CA. Position requires Secret clearance or equivalent.
