Job Description:
Perform scheduled/unscheduled Organizational Level maintenance on specific applicable VX-31 T/M/S aircraft airframe, egress, ordnance, power plants and related systems hired to maintain. Perform flight line essential services as directed to support the daily VX-31 Flight Schedule. Mechanics shall have Naval Organizational Level experience and documented qualifications for the specific T/M/S platform that they are hired and assigned to support within VX-31. Organizational Level maintenance experience strongly preferred and desired over other options. The Aircraft Mechanic I troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, power plants and related systems (fuel, oil, and air systems for both the power plant and airframe), auxiliary power unit, ventilation, ejection seats, Cartridge Activating Devices (CAD), Upload/Download live and inert ordnance, aircraft guns/gun pallets, POD's, cooling and heating systems. This mechanic repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, remove and replace engines, gearboxes and driveshaft's, functional components including rigging, surface controls, plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as common hand-tools. T/M/S applicable hand-tools, hoists, cranes, shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills. Reads and interprets maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Performs Conditional Inspections, Special inspections, Phase Inspections, progressive, isochronal, periodic, and other hourly inspections, in accordance published guidelines. Mechanic I inspects all power plants, egress systems, Ordnance Release and Control Checks, airframe and related systems in accordance with applicable T/M/S technical publications, NAMP and Contractor GOP's. Employees will use testing equipment, such as vibration analyzer, fuel flow tester, ammeter, and jet calibration (Jetcal) tester, Weapons Control Circuit Checks, to locate source of malfunction or
system integrity. Work involves: troubleshooting, replacing or repairing worn or damaged components, such as seals, Cartridge Activity Devices (CAD's), ejection seats, cockpit canopies, rotor blades, helicopter gearboxes, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, engine mounted gearboxes, compressor bleed valves and flight control surfaces valves using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment; removing components from aircraft, using hoist or forklift truck, disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairing or replacing defective engine parts and reassembles and installs components in aircraft. Note the work is not limited to these example components. Job functions require these mechanics to: perform Foreign Objective Damage (FOD) walkdowns, daily housekeeping in assigned work area, adjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring system and aircraft/engine accessories, performs preflight, turn-around, daily and post-flight maintenance inspections, performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing gearboxes, taking oil and hydraulic samples, cleaning filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes. This Contractor participates in the jacking and towing of aircraft, enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily, may service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition, may specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies. Upload and Download weapon systems, live or inert aircraft ordnance and POD's.
Qualifications:
- Aircraft Mechanic I shall have not less than 3 years USN/USMC/USCG Organizational Level NAMP aircraft maintenance support experience.
- These mechanics shall have not less than 3 YEARS T/M/S specific aircraft maintenance experience for the VX-31 T/M/S aircraft hired to maintain.
- Egress mechanics shall have documentation of successful completion of the US Navy Egress/NACES course.
- Experience as T/M/S applicable Plane Captain, Ordnance Lead Team Member, current state Driver's License, tow tractor license is strongly desired.
- VX-31 Organizational Level Aircraft maintenance experience is most preferred.
