Serves as a member of the Materials Review Board. Analyze, develop, and approve repair dispositions for commercial aircraft nonconforming products in all phases of production and flight test. Provide technical support including interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and documents. Initiate design and process changes to correct design errors, resolve complex/chronic manufacturing problems, and to improve the producibility of aircraft hardware. The ability to communicate proactively with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Certification, Change Board, Program, and Design personnel is desirable. Occasional short term business travel may be required. US Person Status required for this position. Researches and builds knowledge of Boeing and engineering design principles in order to develop solutions to product/process issues for production or simple technical in-service issues. Assists with analyses, root cause analysis and drafting dispositions for design non-conformances. Assists system owner in preparation of technical communications. Identifies analyses fleet data, collects and evaluates data on customer findings for product/process improvement opportunities that may include recurrent product support issues. Supports activities to identify deviations that could impact design intent and safety. Participates in Material Review Boards and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs). Assists with the design of interim structural repairs to restore damaged structure to original design strength capability.

Typical Education/Experience

 

Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Required qualifications: Bachelor of science degree in engineering or a bachelor of science degree in engineering technology. Desired qualifications: BSAE (Aeronautical & Aerospace), BSME (Mechanical), BSCE (Civil), and BSEE (Electrical) preferred. Experience in production support. Good communication and coordination skills a plus. Ability to work with Engineering, Operations (QA, Manufacturing, etc.) and all levels of management. CATIA V4 & V5 experience and/or skills desired. The candidate may work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift as well as weekend or daily overtime. This requirement varies from site to site and is typically covered on a rotation basis.
