Project Manager - Hertfordshire UK

Our client is part of a FTSE 100 listed group founded in the 1930's which is organised into four core technology divisions: Mission Systems, Defence Systems, Avionics and Surveillance, and Aviation Services.

Employing over 13,000 highly skilled professionals across the globe with customers in more than 100 countries and annual revenues of over £1bn our client has always been recognised for its innovative technologies, products and services.

Based in Hertfordshire our client is the part of this group responsible for the design, manufacture and testing of high performance Radomes for aerospace & defence applications.
At this facility our client deals with the initial design, through development to manufacture, test and in-service support of high performance Radomes.
With products and services ranging from fast jet nose radomes and missile system radomes to civil airline nose radome repair and testing and a total of over 80 staff (mainly professional engineering and skilled composite technicians) our client's standards form the industry benchmark.


Role:

This candidate should possess a good first degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline and proven experience managing technical projects in industry, preferably in the aerospace and/or defence sector.

Although based at our Stevenage facility, the Project Manager will be responsible for development projects which will require management of personnel and activities across both sites, necessitating frequent travel between the two.

The principal job requirements are:

" To liaise with the Business Development function prior to and during the project bid phase to provide information on risk, cost, resource and programme
" To set up and maintain a Work Breakdown Structure, programme (MS Project) and budgets to be used to manage resource, spend and schedule adherence
" To set up and maintain a Risk Register
" To manage a multi-disciplinary team of engineers
" To ensure timely support from other functions within the business
" To provide project status information at monthly business reviews
" To act as principal customer interface during the project development phase
" To liaise with and advise the Commercial Manager with respect to project contractual matters



The skills and experience necessary to fulfil this role are:

" Proven track record in project management of technical programmes
" Experience of supervision of technical staff
" Life cycle management (or similar) process knowledge
" Well developed inter-personal skills
" Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
" Strong IT skills: MS Office and Project; Syspro would be an advatage

The successful candidate will report to the Engineering Director.
