As a part of Boeing Shared Services Group (SSG), this position develops, designs, provides calculations, drawings (using AutoCAD) and documentation of structural systems and components. Produces or procures the technical designs for modifications to buildings, foundations, platforms, and other structures in support of site operations. Develops the technical requirements for the estimate, design, procurement, construction, maintenance, and operation of the structural systems. Plans, specifies and designs projects to fulfill customer requirements. Supports maintenance and improves the reliability of assets. Interfaces with company organizations, customers, and suppliers to meet company business requirements. Validates customer requirements, incorporating innovations and options to reach project objectives within schedule and budget. Incorporates the adaptation of relevant technological advances.
Competencies
The successful candidate should demonstrate the following: (1) Proficiency in using common computing software tools such as Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Project. (2) Proficiency in structural engineering design, analysis and drawing using AutoCAD. (3) Ability to research building codes and standards like IBC, WAC, AISC, ASCE, ACI and related codes and regulations. (4) Knowledge of civil/structural engineering theories and methods/formula selection for Facilities Plant Civil/Structural Engineering analysis tasks. (5) Knowledge of civil/structural systems' capability, capacity, operating characteristics, and constructability. (6) Knowledge of maintenance practices and requirements of civil/structural systems, equipment, and components. (7) Knowledge of structural failure investigation and analysis techniques to conduct forensic analysis.
Typical Education/Experience
High school diploma or GED.

Candidates should be college students w/ junior or senior status pursuing a civil or structural engineering degree associated with an ABET accredited program. Candidates must demonstrate overall GPA of 3.3 - 4.0. Clearly state cum. GPA and graduation month/year in resume. If selected for interview, candidates notified via email by Dec/Jan. Assignments begin when your school recesses for Summer 2010 and generally last 3 months.
