Engineering intern assignments in Airplane Configuration, Integration and Performance (ACIP) Aerodynamics Engineering in one or more or the following areas: Assist in analyzing jet transports from the configuration design or stability and control standpoints. Calculate and present airplane performance capabilities to support product development, sales campaigns, and airline operations while ensuring compliance with appropriate regulatory requirements and airline operational rules. Define wind tunnel and flight testing requirements, participate in tests and analyze test results. Conduct multi-disciplinary trade studies and define market requirements to support development of new models. Assignments may also include manufacturing support, answering airline queries, airplane motion simulation, flight operations and crew training support, and FAA coordination.

Competencies

 

Knowledge of aerodynamic engineering fundamentals is required. Familiarization with personal computing is required. Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team environment is essential.

Typical Education/Experience

 

High school diploma or GED.

Other Job related information

 

Students currently in sophomore or junior year pursuing an undergraduate degreee with the major subject area of focus in Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering. Students in their senior year with a graduation date of December 2010 may also apply. Prefer a GPA 3.0 or greater (4-point) system. Assignments may be either in Renton or Everett, WA.
