Based in Bristol our client is a joint venture between two of the world's biggest defence companies which provides a complete 25 year solution for the UK military's flight training needs.
Heavily involved with the MOD our client is working to achieve a solution that delivers the world's finest Military Flying Training System to provide comprehensive training to all (new) UK military aircrew across the Royal Navy, the Royal Air Force and the Army Air Corps. The programme covers students in the period following aircrew selection up to the point when they are ready to fly in their operational aircraft.
Our client will work with the MoD throughout the life of the programme, designing, delivering and managing ground and flying training across multiple locations in the UK.
Due to the progression of this huge project our client currently requires a Sub-Contracts Manager (Aerospace/Defence/Military) for their office in Bristol
Key Requirement
To be responsible for providing a professional Supply Chain Management service to support our client achieving its service delivery targets and timescales.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Providing the key interface between our client and it's sub-contractors to ensure communication is effectively managed and that issues and risks are fully understood and dealt with by the appropriate personnel.
2. Liaising with the appropriate personnel to coordinate regular meetings with suppliers to enable the review of actual progress against planned deliverables. Ensuring that where necessary, appropriate recovery plans are put in place.
3. In conjunction with the Commercial Team leading negotiations and drafting of sub-contracts and any subsequent changes thereto.
4. Supporting meetings with the customer which will be lead by Project Management or Commercial staff.
5. Monitoring and reviewing all contractual requirements to ensure they are satisfied by suppliers.
6. Co-ordinating meetings with sub-contractors to review the management of risk.
7. Generating and reporting on sub-contractors Key Performance Indicators and identifying positions or trends that need to be addressed.
8. Ensuring that relationships with sub-contractors are regularly evaluated to assess whether any improvement activity is necessary.
9. Providing guidance and advice to other team members on interpreting the sub-contract agreements..
10. Reporting internally on sub-contractor performance and ensuring that adequate information is provided to other colleagues.
11. Deputising for the Director of Acquisition and Implementation as necessary and representing the function at internal meetings as required.
12. In the early stages of the business, there will be a requirement for the job holder to assist with the generation of processes and mechanistic approaches to managing the sub-contracts.
Knowledge and Experience
" Minimum of 5 years experience of managing, major sub- contracts ideally within an Aerospace, Airline industry.
" Degree educated and or CIPS qualified.
" Good understanding of MOD contract terms and conditions for Aerospace business and experience of managing contract changes.
" Able to demonstrate good negotiation skills.
