Conducts system integration, hardware and software installation, configuration and disposition of servers and workstations to support the SBInet architecture. Provides complex problem resolution, root cause analysis and technical support for Sector production systems. Participates in the design, validation and configuration management of computing delivery systems. Plans and coordinates system changes. Administers user system access and establishes safeguards to protect information to meet security requirements. Oversees activities to monitor system performance to support capacity planning, backup and disaster recovery planning. Mentors, leads and trains others.

Information Technology Fluency

Typical Education/Experience

Technical bachelor's degree and proven related work experience or a Master's degree with typically proven experience or a PhD degree with typically 4 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study.

Network/Systems Administation engineer must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills. He or she must also be able monitor and respond appropriately to automated systems that track the health and status of servers and associated network and workstation equipment. Must be fully capable in the systems administration of the Linux OS environment and possess excellent attention to detail. Effective communications and interpersonal skills, and customer focus required. Representative SW on-site (OS, network and security) with experience with the following: Linux (Red Hat) MS Windows Cisco Security Agent (Host Intrusion Detection) Cisco IOS w/ IDS/IPS Feature Set (Network Intrusion Detection) Nessus (Vulnerability Scanning) SSH (configuring network devices) MS Certificate Authority integrated into AD (PKI/Certificate security) Other SW used: Oracle, MARS, Remedy, ArcSight, AppCritical, Opsware Must be willing to work in 24/7 operations environment. Requires a candidate w/ DoD TOP SECRET, SCI or higher clearances, ability to pass an LE background check; and 1+ year Linux experience. Prefer Bachelors Degree in information systems, computer science or similar technology discipline but can substitute demonstrable equivalent certifications or experience.
