This position provides all System Administration technical expertise, integration and leadership for CANES [Consolidated Afloat Network and Enterprise Services - U.S. Navy program) in the following technical infrastructure design elements, Server, Storage (multiple technologies, FC/iSCSI/NAS), Collaboration, Service Automation, Enterprise System Management/Monitoring, Database Services, Data Protection/Backup and MLS (Multi-Level Security) architectures all for the purpose of design development, integration, installation and maintenance of the CANES program solution.
Coordinates the technical implementation efforts of a group of skilled employees and supplier provided employee resources in their respective functional area.
- Interfaces with technology suppliers and resources directly assigned to the CCS/CCE team(s) to delegate and accomplish the design, implementation, installation of the CANES program solution
- Supports integration with the larger program functions such as Business Management, Program Management and other technical areas such as Information Assurance (IA)
- Participates and leads projects, approves designs/processes and cost estimates in technical areas of responsibility
- Engages in customer relationship management and interaction (technical and business briefings, strategy and architecture reviews)
- Sets priorities, provides input to budgets, procurement processes and participates in long-range planning for functional areas.
- Recommends methodologies and leads change to improve performance not only the technical design but in business execution of the program.
- Provides hands on system administration and technical build/implement/installation skills in multiple technical area
Assists with establishing cost effective company level security policies. Employs risk management practices in developing and promoting security policies. Develops and promotes security awareness. Coordinates and establishes computing safeguards with other organizations. Experience in the Design, Integration, Build/Deployment of end-to-end Data Center technical infrastructure and business/mission environment in an MLS (Multi Level Security) environment in which cross-domain design requirements are integral (including cross-domain guard/firewall type of devices).
- Experience implementing all of the following in an enterprise data center environment including/considering TCO/Life Cycle and Acquisition Cost trade-offs:
* Servers - with an emphasis in Solaris, various Linux distributions and Windows (multiple versions) and familiarity with Active Directory
* Storage - familiarity with Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NAS/NFS/CIFS
* Virtualization Technologies (Server Virtualization [VMWare, Sun LDOMs and Containers] desired exposure to Network Virtualization [Cisco VSS, Load Balancing, MPLS)
* Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and Video Teleconferencing (VTC) familiarity
* Collaboration technologies (desired IBM Sametime)
* Enterprise System Management/Monitoring (desired - BMC Atrium and suite of service monitoring tools)
* Service Automation - (desired - HP Service Automation [OpsWare])
* Database Services (multiple, primarily Oracle RAC)
* Data Protection/Backup (Symantec Netbackup)
* Information Assurance Integration in an MLS (Multi-Level Security) architecture

Typical Education/Experience



Technical bachelor's degree and related work experience or a Master's degree with related experience or a PhD degree with related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study.

Ability to Obtain Interim and/or Final Clearances (Post Start) - Eligibility to live and work in US required. Exposure and familiarity with network design - both data center network design, MAN/WAN, as well as MLS (Multi-Level Security) topologies and supporting technologies - including familiarity with network fundamentals as VLANs, IP subnetting, MLS network separation. - Experience integrating and deploying the above elements into a highly available infrastructure environment design; Assist in the development of a provisioning strategy, tools and design to manage a growing infrastructure that is the foundation of a consolidated shipboard application infrastructure environment; provide Technical writing and training as required; Keep current on trends, hardware and software; Work independently and as a technical team member. This position is contingent on the award of a competitive contract expected between November 2009 and January 2010. The prime work location will be at the Boeing Offices in San Diego, CA with periodic travel to the Boeing offices in Huntington Beach, CA.
