A laboratory technician is needed to aid in the development of support equipment for Tactical Electronic Warfare and other avionics systems. Tasks include the assembly, installation and checkout of automatic test equipment and interface hardware, and troubleshooting/repair of electronic systems at both the board and component level. This person will also fabricate and assemble wire harnesses, cables, interface units and circuit card assemblies. The ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, wiring diagrams and wire lists is essential. This individual is expected to actively participate in the design and development of the product and to be able to work with drawings that are still in development.

Automatic Test Equipment
Complete knowledge and is proficient in the operation, integration, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of automatic test equipment (e.g., Avionics Intermediate Shop [AIS], Tactical Intermediate Support System [TISS], Servocylinder Test Set [STS], Electrical Optical Test Set [EOTS], Hybrid Test Set [HTS], Intermediate Avionics Test Set [IATS]) and associated software, Test Program Sets (TPS), and programming codes.

Engineering Drawings & Specs
Complete ability to read, understand, and interpret basic engineering drawings and specifications.

Engineering Tests Techniques
Intermediate ability to perform engineering tests techniques, including handling qualities, performance, systems testing, structural loads, weapons separation, propulsion, etc.

Equipment Design & Prototyping
Complete knowledge of electro-mechanical design and machine controls, computer aided design tools (e.g., CATIA, Autocad Inventor), and machine shop processes. Ability to develop prototype production equipment by designing, simulating, building, modifying, testing, and integrating components to minimize risk and demonstrate concept feasibility.

Typical Education/Experience



AA degree in related discipline and typically 3 or more years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Other Job related information



Position requires a current Secret Clearance - Eligibility to live and work in US required or equivalent (Refer to Security Clearance Definitions link above). Applicants MUST include their security clearance level, investigation type and investigation date clearly on their resume. Experience with F-15 Tactical Electronic Warfare Intermediate Support System (TISS) is preferred. The successful applicant will have excellent electrical fabrication skills, completed the J-STD-001 Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies course, and be experienced in the use of various Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) RF and non-RF test equipment. Applicant must have a current Secret Security Clearance with an investigation within the past 5 years. Candidate is expected to be able to travel periodically to support Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) modification and installations at remote sites. Candidate must have experience using the Boeing ePARTS application for ordering parts, and the Boeing HMS-Nonconformance Management System for reporting non-conforming ATE parts. Additionally, the candidate must have the ability to accurately document technical information for incorporation into USAF Technical Orders.
