Due to expansion my client seeks a project engineer to join their engineering team. You will be joining an expanding engineering company that is involved with the design, development, manufacture and support of air movement and filtration systems for the defence and aerospace market. They have recently won a number of projects and have a full order book and will therefore be looking to recruit a number of engineering staff to support their workload.
As a project engineer you will be involved with assisting the design, development, production and manufacturing process by providing a input across the whole project from concept, design, NPI and delivery. Therefore as project engineer you should be keen and enthusiastic, broad minded and have a broad engineering knowledge base (mechanically biased). Typical involvements would include design input, liaison with various departments, helping with production and NPI, product changes, testing, documentation, dealing with customers and suppliers, overseeing the project to ensure timely delivery and assisting principal engineers with other engineering tasks.
The products are electro-mechanical and therefore a background working with electro-mechanical systems would be useful (ideally aerospace or defence / military products) although other engineering domains will be considered (e.g. automotive, rail, marine, air-conditioning, HVAC, sheetmetal fabrication etc)
Skills / Knowledge:
"Ideally a relevant engineering qualification (HNC / HND / Degree in mechanical / production engineering)
"Knowledge of mechanical design and product development
"Well organised and able to communicate at all levels (must be comfortable when dealing with customers and suppliers)
"Able to manage small projects
"Knowledge of a variety of engineering disciplines (mostly mechanical but an understanding of electromechanical systems, analogue electronics, and / or electrical engineering would be very useful)
"Knowledge of the full product lifecycle would be ideal (e.g. design, NPI, production etc)
Others (beneficial):
"Knowledge of air movement systems (heating, cooling, refrigeration, HVAC)
"Knowledge of aerospace, aircraft or military vehicles systems
This position would suit an engineer that has worked within an engineering company as a design or development engineer but would like to progress to systems engineering, project management or principal engineer status.
