Airbus UK is looking to recruit an Electromagnetic Hazards Specialist to provide support to the A350, A400M, internal research projects and in service and serial programmes. Your main areas of responsibility will be within Wing Structure, Fuel System and Landing Gear, but you will also provide support to all other Airbus entities. 
As the successful candidate you will join the Installation Environment department, which is fully transnational across UK, France and Spain and has strong links with the equivalent department in Germany. The department responsibilities include ensuring the compliance of Airbus products with the applicable Lightning Direct Effects, Lightning Indirect Effects, Electromagnetic Compatibility, Electrostatic Discharge and Atmospheric Radiation requirements. In addition the department is responsible for ensuring compliance with the applicable requirements for Mechanical and Climatic Environments. 
As the successful candidate you will need to demonstrate significant relevant experience in the majority of these areas; lightning direct effects in particular. 
TasksYou will be working as part of an integrated team with other disciplines (primarily structures and systems specialists), project management and external partners and suppliers. There is also a strong transnational element to the role, requiring regular contact with other Airbus entities. 
You will be required to technically supervise a team of typically 4-6 electromagnetic hazards engineers, including subcontract work package staff, working on one single project. 
As a recognised specialist, you will be required to technically advise, supervise and contribute to the development of less experienced staff, both in the UK and all other Airbus entities. 
Your principal activities will include the following: 
- Lead test and assessment tasks to ensure designs on development programmes are compliant with the applicable electromagnetic and lightning protection requirements; 
- Provide in-house lightning consultancy service for structures and systems specialists; 
- Contribute technically in the research and development of novel lightning proof composite joint technologies; 
- Provide relevant inputs, in conjunction with the appropriate specialists and vendors, to systems and equipment specifications; 
- Review supplier documentation and provide appropriate technical inputs; 
- Review airframe structural designs from the lightning direct effects viewpoint; 
- Contribute to lightning and electromagnetic certification activities to ensure airworthiness and safety requirements are met; 
- Create and maintain database for above activities and provide regular status reports; 
- Create and maintain project plans. 
Your skillsYou will have a degree or equivalent in Electrical/Electronics, Physics or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline and have significant experience in electromagnetic hazards, gained preferably within an aerospace or defence environment. 
You should be able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of Electromagnetic theory and application to the protection of aircraft structures and systems, as well as knowledge of electrical bonding, grounding, electrostatic discharge design and aerospace structural design principles particularly related to composite materials. 
Ideally you will also possess; 
- an ability to produce detailed Technical Engineering reports; 
- good communication skills and a pro-active approach to problem solving; 
- an ability to work as part of an Integrated Product Team; 
- people &amp; project management skills through experience of working in international teams and/or projects; 
- an aptitude for languages; English to a high standard plus French, German and/or Spanish.

ROLE PURPOSE: To provide PCB Layouts to the requirements of the Electronics Designer

ROLE TITLE: Senior Mechanical Engineer - Electrical Interconnect 
ROLE PURPOSE: To assist in the design of electrical interconnects for missile systems. To undertake a full range of engineering activities in line with all relevant processes and other requirements
DIRECTORATE: Operations (Mechanical Engineering)
REPORTS TO: Mechanical Group Leader
ACCOUNTABILITIES
" Definition of bespoke cable designs for power, signal &amp; data transmission. 
" Participate fully in developing cable routing solutions including creation of CAD (Pro/Cable) cable route models.
" Interpretation of Sub-System Specifications and generation of 2D electrical schematics &amp; cable design definitions on CAD.
" Develop designs in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards. Participate in appraisals to ensure all standards are maintained.
" Carry out investigations into a full range of problems, issues or developments and develop and prepare solutions, individually or as a member of a project team.
" Define testing approaches and specify tests in assigned/specialist area(s) and evaluate and make recommendations based on results, including making suggestions to improve test/diagnosis processes.
" Support/liaise with manufacturing, resolving manufacturing problems &amp; defects.
" Support to functional &amp; environmental trials.
" Support in the developing, maintaining and modifying of engineering processes and procedures in assigned areas in response to technical developments and operational need.
" Liaise with suppliers/ purchasing to resolve any technical queries that may arise.
" Planning own day-to-day activities.

Overall Purpose/Objectives of Role
To determine the serviceability of product by following written test procedures with the use of common range electronics test &amp; measurement equipment.
Key duties: 
1. To carry out product test procedures at general assembly, sub-assembly levels, and fault-find down to component level.
2. To operate common range electronics test &amp; measurement equipment
3. To operate specific product-related environmental test and calibration equipment
4. To compile test reports and other relevant documentation
5. To carry out production/repair work as required.
ESSENTIAL - Job Related Experience:
" Able to follow written test procedures to determine the serviceability of product at general assembly and sub-assembly levels and fault find down to component level.
" Sound knowledge of electronic test principles and practices gained from hands on experience 
" Familiar with the use of common range of electronics test &amp; measurement equipment 
" Experience of SMT manufacturing, able to identify different component types, values and correct orientation 
" Able to read and interpret technical data including circuit diagrams (drawings and technical publications)
" Able to complete test documentation
" Able to carry out production work
" Able to document fault history logs for use by other technicians to assist in establishing cause of failure
" Understands the principals of continuous improvement and applies them in the workplace
" Able to trend fault data to establish the primary causes of failure
