Airworthiness Requirements CS 25.571 The understanding and working knowledge of the regulations covering the design and operation of aircraft and the legal status and administration of these regulations in different countries; the application of these regulations throughout the life cycle including safety and continued airworthiness of in-service aircraft; the process for certification and the demonstration of means of compliance of an aircraft and its high lift components.
Structure Certification Process Knowledge of structure certification process development &amp; implementation.
Fatigue &amp; Damage Tolerance General Knowledge of fatigue &amp; damage tolerance calculation. F&amp;DT methods applied to design characteristics, e.g. inspection intervals, load spectrum. Verification of forecasted F&amp;DT stress values vs tests. Standard F&amp;DT tools &amp; techniques. Analysis of damaged structure. 
Methods Define design values to be used by stress teams. Define Means of Compliance regarding calculation method and validation. Define inspection tasks for fatigue sensitive areas (SSI´s).
Structure Analysis Analyse metallic structures from the perspective of Fatigue and Damage Tolerance, Composite &amp; Metallic Static strength (residual strength). Perform structure analysis of metallic and composite for stress check and test.
Metallic Materials Knowledge of Properties &amp; Applications of Metallic Materials &amp; Technologies. Specific properties for all types of metallic materials and material conditions/characteristics. Correct material and condition advising to be used in a particular application.
Mission &amp; Spectrum Generation Knowledge of calculation of fatigue spectrum from aircraft loading data. Aircraft typical flight profile. This applies on the aircraft global and local load levels.
Stress &amp; Design Process Link Knowledge of design processes &amp; solutions. Good knowledge of fail-safe and damage tolerance design principles (MLP/SLP). Stress processes &amp; solutions. Solutions interfaces from Design to Stress with focus on damage tolerance design principles.
Inspection Program Knowledge of inspection methods (visual &amp; NDI) and inspection levels (general visual inspection &amp; detailed visual inspection according to MSG3, special detailed inspection). Knowledge of ALS (Airworthiness Limitation Section) part 2 and MRBR (Maintenance review Board Revision).
Stress Metal / Detail Component Stressing Knowledge of metallic static strengh calculation, fatigue strength calculation and crack propagation calculation. Verification of forecasted metallic stress values (intact and damaged structure) vs tests. Verification of forecasted crack propagation values vs tests. Standard metallic stress tools &amp; techniques. Analysis of damaged metallic structure. 
Knowledge of detail stressing of components and mechanisms to ensure the complete structural integrity of a part or mechanism by the following methods of analysis. Analysis for static strength, F&amp;DT capabilities and the production of relevant strength margins or reserve factors.
Stress Repair Knowledge of internal loads generation principles. Methods &amp; tools for repair calculation. Metallic &amp; composite materials properties, detail &amp;
component stressing.
FEA / FEM Knowledge (post processing) of Linear and Static Finite Element Analysis. Development &amp; application of advanced finite element and boundary element techniques to analyse &amp; predict characteristics of metallic &amp; composite structures. Knowledge of geometric and material nonlinearities as well as foreign object impact analysis.
Knowledge of Non-Linear and Finite Element Analysis. The application of Finite element and other computer numerical techniques to the analysis of impact and other high strain rate or non-linear behaviours.
Structures Tests Test Definition Knowledge of inputs to Test Definitions or Specifications. Generation of loading data and matching with jack configurations. Documention, where requested, of the Test Programme including Major Tests configurations.
Component Tests Knowledge of how to develop component tests to qualification purposes and/or verification of the Design ; - Definition of test method, test scope and test parameters ; - Design of the test set-up and the test prototypes ; - Assignment of test set-up and test prototypes ; - Analysis of the test report and assessment of the test results regarding the qualification and/or the Design
NDI Knowledge of global NDI technics &amp; relevant processes for structure investigations &amp; mechanical tests.
Interpretation of Test Data Knowledge of The processing and interpretation of specimen test and other data to - generate property values design curves or other standard values used in static, F&amp;DT and non-Linear analysis . – correlate methods and/or generate structural data such as allowables, inspection interval.

Required to lead or contribute to the following activities. These activities are essential in the frame of the corporate environmental improvement programme, firstly to ensure in priority compliance with relevant regulations and minimise potential financial penalties or production disruption through materials obsolescence, and secondly to maintain excellence in environmental management through the certification to external recognised standards, which is a corporate wide objective and commitment.
Responsible for tracking and regular update of legislation affecting materials and processes used by the company at European and National level through interface with central corporate team and local EHS teams. 
In charge of supporting data collection on selected substances, materials and processes impacted by EHS regulations and especially REACH regulation for authorization process, and of delivering a consolidated Inventory of Materials and Processes (focus on UK design and manufacturing) anticipated to be impacted by REACH including potential replacement/alternatives based on prioritisation. 
A key output of this task will the creation of a knowledge database based on regulation constraints, technologies, feedback from suppliers, library and internet information sources. Also support the Identification of tools that can contribute to support the REACH implementation and determine the gap between current tool ("as is") and expected ones.
Responsible for the completion of " EHS pre-assessments " as required to support qualification and the communication of these documents to specialists when finalized, as well as the preparation and the management of the requests for National Hazardous Materials Evaluation Committee "EHS Assessments". 
Expected to complete the following tasks:
Complete EHS pre-assessment template and submit to requestors
Formulate and Update Fast Track process for items not requiring full assessment
Ensure monitoring of EHS assessment completion in the SQUAT tool
Coordination of requests for EHS assessments from M&amp;P specialists
Prioritization of requests to present to National Hazardous Materials Evaluation Committee
Will support the insertion of the relevant EHS information in the key M&amp;P deliverables to aircraft programmes (e.g. Transnational SSL and MPSL documents) based on existing EHS information like assessments or pre-assessments.
Will be tasked to perform Life cycle environmental analysis for selected technologies within the framework of the ECODESIGN R&amp;T project, and as requested by internal customers from engineering or aircraft programmes.
Responsible for giving specific advice on queries relating to application of EHS policy/directives/procedures application from local internal specialists and designers, suppliers and sub contractors. The individual will be expected to support awareness raising and communication on specific EHS issues within the local M&amp;P domain

To provide materials, mechanical parts and processes engineering support to business unit projects as required. To contribute to the Materials and Processes team mission of assuring the quality of materials and processes used in products. 
This role reports to the respective site Materials Engineering Manager.
Main functions:
Act as the responsible materials engineer for one or more project/product teams, as necessary acting as the single contact point for the resolution of all materials and processes issues. 
To satisfy internal customers (projects, product teams, manufacturing, AIT, procurement, design office, PA.) through the application of specialist materials and processes knowledge. To assure performance of planned activities, on time and with respect to the governing product assurance requirements.
To instigate and manage to completion materials and processes selection, development, evaluation and qualification programmes. 
To participate in risk reviews at all stages of product design, development and manufacture, ensuring that materials and processes risk retirement plans are carried through. 
To prepare declared materials and processes lists and ensure that adequate materials and processes qualification has been achieved by CDR. 
To review and approve subcontractor/supplier materials and processes documentation. To monitor the technical performance of subcontractors and suppliers and participate in audits. 
To maintain awareness of developments in the field of materials and processes. 
Required skills:

Qualifications:
Materials specialist at graduate level with wide knowledge of metals and non-metals. 
The successful Materials Engineer will be hands on this is not suitable for a person looking to do pure research. Must be able to make test pieces then liaise with other depts to get them tested as well as write reports etc. so must be a people person. A good first degree is preferred but this does not preclude a PhD as long as above applies 
The successful candidate will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment
