College interns from multiple Southwest sites and functions will be aligned in virtual teams to work collaboratively on concurrent improvement projects. As part of the intern experience, each student will be paired with a Boeing subject matter expert (mentor) in order to provide familiarity with regional services, processes and other personnel. At the end of the work period each intern team will be offered the opportunity to present its improvement project to the regional executive leadership for evaluation and potential deployment. 
The intern will also have the chance to work on a daily basis with contract managers responsible for facilities related services within Southern California and Arizona. This work will offer experience with both service delivery management and strategy development and deployment toward planned cost reductions targets. The contract management work will include collaboration with personnel from Supplier Management, Business Management, and the Maintenance / Facility Management functions.
