    <p>It could be called the ultimate blessing for a new aircraft. When the Pope needed transport from the Vatican to a vacation home in Aosta Valley in northern Italy, he travelled on a Fairchild Dornier 328JET.Hearing that Pope John-Paul II was in need of some swift transport, Italian regional carrier Air Vallee stepped in and offered to supply its 328JET, which was delivered earlier this year.</p> <p>A special VIP seat was installed in the front of the regional jet and the Pope and his entourage was able to make the one hour flight in style in one of the newest aircraft types in the business.</p> <p>No word on how the Pope enjoyed his regional jet experience, but for Fairchild marketeers, this has to be as close as you can get to a heavenly endorsement. </p>
  • Air Vallee launches 328JET service between Italy and Paris

    <p>Air Vallee has introduced a 32-seat Fairchild Aerospace 328JET into scheduled service between its Aosta base in northwest Italy and Rome Fiumicino and Paris Charles de Gaulle airports. The aircraft was ordered last October. The airline, owned by an Italian financial institution, was established in 1997 when it launched flights to Rome Ciampino with a Bombardier Learjet 31.</p> <p><IMG SRC="<img src='../Assets/GetAsset.aspx?ItemID=4250' />.gif" WIDTH=450 HEIGHT=260></p>

    Air Canada has received the first of six Rolls-Royce Trent 700-powered Airbus A330-300s. Qatari wet-lease specialist Gulf Falcon Group has arranged to acquire five ex-Japan Airlines Boeing 747s, including two -100s and three -200s, from Itochu Air Lease, for delivery from December. Indigo Aviation has sold two CFM International CFM56-powered Boeing 737s to an affiliate of Oasis International Leasing in Abu Dhabi. One aircraft is a 737-300 operated by Go, the other is a -400 leased to Virgin Express. Milan-based leasing company Locat has ordered a Fairchild 328JET, which will be delivered in April on lease to Aosta-based Air Vall&eacute;e. SAirGroup's leasing division Flightlease has ordered two Airbus A340-300s for delivery late next year. Aeroflot has taken delivery of the first two of four GE CF6-powered Boeing 767-300ERs on lease from GE Capital Aviation Services.
