    <FONT size=2> <P>The first of five Airbus A330 multi role tanker transports (MRTT) ordered by the Royal Australian Air Force has been rolled out of the hangar at the conversion centre of EADS Casa in Getafe near Madrid.</P> <P>The <A href="http://www.defence.gov.au/raaf/aircraft/mrtt.htm" target=_blank>contract to convert the RAAF's A330s into MRTTs </A>was signed on 20 December 2004 between EADS Casa and Australia.</P> <P>The five A330s are due to enter service in 2009 as MRTTs and are being modified for air-to-air refuelling and personnel transport. </P> <P align=center><IMG style="WIDTH: 445px; HEIGHT: 334px" alt="" src="../assets/getAsset.aspx?ItemID=18103" border=0></P> <P align=left>The RAAF's A330 MRTTs have a centerline air refueling boom system (ARBS ) with fly-by-wire controls, plus two under-wing hose and drogue pods. </P> <P align=center><IMG style="WIDTH: 445px; HEIGHT: 334px" alt="" src="../assets/getAsset.aspx?ItemID=18104" border=0></P> <P><BR>The aircraft will carryhttp://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/Pictures-First-Australian-Airbus-A330-MRTT-air-to-air-refuelling-tanker-rolled-out-214571/

    <P><STRONG>Dutch Chinooks get cockpit upgrade</STRONG></P> <P><STRONG>Avionics</STRONG> The six Boeing CH-47F Chinook heavylift helicopters ordered by the Netherlands last week will have a next-generation version of the Honeywell Avionics Control and Management System glass cockpit fitted to upgraded Dutch CH-47Ds, rather than the Rockwell Collins Common Avionics Architecture System being fitted to US Army CH-47Fs. The helicopters will be delivered between July 2009 and January 2010.</P> <P><STRONG>France clarifies Saudi Arabian deal</STRONG></P> <P><STRONG>Order</STRONG> The French defence ministry withdrew a statement last week that Saudi Arabia had ordered two Airbus A330-MRTT military refuelling aircraft, saying that talks were continuing.     <P>Airbus has flown the first A330 MRTT for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) in the service's colours.</P> <P><IMG alt=A330MRTT src="../assets/getAsset.aspx?ItemID=12771"></P> <P><EM><A href="http://perso.wanadoo.fr/ydphotos/">Source: French Frogs Airslides</A></EM></P> <P>The RAAF has ordered five of the A330-200-based aircraft and the first is due to be delivered shortly to EADS Casa for modification to the tanker role.
