  • India receives 23 bids for Amritsar airport

    <body lang=EN-GB style='tab-interval:36.0pt'> <div class=Section1> <p class=MsoNormal>India’s Government has reported a strong response to its call for bids to upgrade and operate Amritsar International Airport in the northern state of Punjab.</p> <p class=MsoNormal>The Civil Aviation Ministry says in a statement that 23 bids were received by a 14 January deadline and they will be opened for evaluation today.</p> <p class=MsoNormal>Bidders include both local and foreign groups, such as Indian conglomerates GMR Infrastructure, GVK, Larson &amp; Toubro and Reliance, and foreign groups Fraport of Germany, Singapore’s Changi Airports and Australia’s Macquarie, among many others.</p> <p class=MsoNormal>In addition to upgrading the airports in all six of India’s largest cities the Government has been working to modernise 35 “non-metro” airports and 25 are to be done in partnership with the private sector.</p> <p class=MsoNormal>Private-sector consortia are generahttp://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/India-receives-23-bids-for-Amritsar-airport-305188/
