  • Rotor club: Our top 10 most influential helicopters

With the Bell Helicopter 505 Jet Ranger X making its maiden flight recently – and with the technologically advanced 525 Relentless waiting in the wings – we run down a (entirely subjective) list of the most influential helicopters of all time. And before anyone complains at the lack of a tiltrotor or compound rotorcraft, for reasons of simplicity we kept to conventional helicopters, as the more complex designs would fill a list all of their own. So, in order of age:

  • ANALYSIS: No loose talk but plenty to shout about at AgustaWestland

    News | 18 Nov 2014 11:51 | Dominic Perry

AgustaWestland - like every Finmeccanica company - is a bit sensitive right now. Interviews with the company are only granted on the basis that quotes are attributed to the organisation rather than individuals. The stricture, driven by the changes at the top of Finmeccanica and part of the spring cleaning initiated by its new chief executive Mauro Moretti, has particular resonance for AgustaWestland. His appointment can be traced directly to the abrupt departure in February 2013 of Guiseppe Orsi as part of huge fall-out from the India corruption scandal during his time as AgustaWestland chief. It is an issue that has hung over the helicopter manufacturer for the past year or more, overshadowing any achievements. In fact, to illustrate the lasting legacy of the India deal, one only has to type "AgustaWestland" into the search bar of Google and one of the first suggestions to appear is "AgustaWestland India". It is, as the company describes it, "such a touchy subject".http://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/ANALYSIS-No-loose-talk-but-plenty-to-shout-about-at-AgustaWestland-405502/
