    <P>The hurdles may be high, but leisure carriers are used to going against the odds and surviving. After all, these airlines were born to overcome regulatory barriers and - despite widespread liberalisation and the advent of low-cost carriers - the package holiday lives on. </P> <P>Sylviane Lust, who heads leisure airline body the International Air Carrier Association, recalls <A href="http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/2004/06/01/182245/leisure-groups-face-up-to-low-cost.html">an&nbsp;annual general meeting in Brussels a few years back </A>which questioned whether there was any future for package holidays. "The feeling was that packages would disappear with low-cost carrier entry," she says.     <P>Airliner net orders came in at 101 in November as 107 new orders were offset by six cancellations.</P> <P>Etihad placed orders for 25 A350, 20 A320 and six A380 aircraft. Elsewhere, BOC Aviation ordered 11 A320s and nine A319s, while Air Arabia ordered 10 A320s. India’s Air Deccan cancelled three A320s and Spanish leisure carrier Futura International Airways three 737s.</P> <P>Airbus dominated November winning 84 new orders (before cancellations), while Bombardier counted eight, Boeing six and Embraer three. China’s ACAC consortium also had five orders for the ARJ21 and RUAG one for the new Dornier 228.</P> <P>Net narrowbody orders totalled 55 for the month, led by 44 A320s.
