    <p>Finnish composites component manufacturer holds talks with Boeing and also targets A400M transport </p> <p>Finnish manufacturer Patria says it is &quot;in discussions&quot; for possible work packages on Boeing's 7E7 and is targeting the proposed Airbus A350 programme as a priority for its composites component business.</p> <p>The company is also continuing to hold talks with Airbus Military on the A400M airlifter programme despite the Finnish air force's official lack of interest in the project.</p> <p>Seppo Seppala, executive vice- president of Patria Advanced Solutions, says the company is also seeking increased work from Embraer as part of efforts to &quot;balance the risks and fluctuations of the market&quot;.</p> <p>Patria has invested €20 million ($25.8 million) in an extensive redevelopment of its composites capabilities at Halli in southern Finland over the past three years.     <p>FIJI</p> <p>FIJI MILITARY FORCES</p> <p>A single AS355F-2 Ecureuil helicopter was donated by France in 1989 to allow establishment of an embryonic Fijian air arm. A second helicopter, an SA365N Dauphin, was delivered in May 1991. It is not known if it is serviceable.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>FINLAND</p> <p>SUOMEN ILMAVOIMAT (AIR FORCE)</p> <p>The Finnish air force had received 41 F/A-18C Hornets by September 1999 and deliveries are expected to continue until the year 2000. The aircraft, most of which will be assembled in Finland by Patria Finavitec (formerly Valmet Aviation) will replace J35 Drakens - some of which were also produced in Finland - and MiG-21bis fighters. The MiG-21 was withdrawn from service in March 1998 while the Drakens will soldier on until 2001. The air force is organised into three air commands, each assigned to one of the three air defence areas into which Finland is divided.     <img src='../Assets/GetAsset.aspx?ItemID=630' /> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Sonaca of Belgium is to outsource production of some of the front and rear fuselage sections it manufactures for the Embraer RJ-145 to Patria Finavicomp of Finland, which has been hit by closure of Saab 2000 production. The last components for Saab will leave its plant in Halli, Finland, later this year.   • First Finnish F-18 is rolled out

    <p>THE FIRST OF 64 McDonnell Douglas (MDC) F-18s for the Finnish air force was rolled out from the company's St Louis site in Missouri on 7 June. </p> <p>The aircraft will form part of the initial batch of four F-18s to be delivered to Finland in November. MDC will build the first seven F-18s, all two-seat D models, in the USA. The remaining 57 single-seat C models will be assembled by Valmet Aviation Industries in Halli, Finland, from September onwards. </p> <p>Valmet is scheduled to deliver its first F-18C to the Finnish air force around September 1996.
