    <BODY LINK="#0000ff" VLINK="#800080"> <P>Bombardier has scored a regional jet breakthrough in Japan with an order for two Canadair Regional Jet Series 200s from Japan Airlines (JAL) subsidiary J-Air.</P> <P>The deal marks the first sale of regional jets in the potentially huge Japanese market, although several of the country's carriers operate turboprop aircraft.</P> <P>Hiroshima-based J-Air will take delivery of the 50-seat CRJ-200s in November 2000 and March 2001, putting both into service on its 12-point route network in April 2001.</P> <P>JAL says the aircraft "will be used by the airline on local and regional routes and will help to improve the JAL Group's overall competitiveness in the domestic market".</P> <P>J-Air operates from Hiroshima's Nishi airport with a current fleet of five 19-seat British Aerospace Jetstream 31s.
