    <BODY LINK="#0000ff" VLINK="#800080"> <P>The US National Transportation Safety Board is not ready to say yet why a snowplough was on the runway at Juneau International Airport in Alaska when an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-400 landed there early in the morning of 2 November.</P> <P>The Boeing 737 had to swerve to avoid collision with the snowplough, which was carrying out a training exercise with a new driver, after landing in darkness on Juneau's runway 08 at about 06:40 local time.</P> <P>An official with the NTSB's Anchorage regional office says the agency is still investigating the incident and does not expect to submit a final report for "quite some time".</P> <P>The aircraft - registered N792AS - was operating Alaska's flight AS73 from Sitka to Juneau, and had taken off from Sitka at about 06:00 local time.</P> <P>The NTSB's initial incident report says that at the time the 737 landed the Juneau air traffic control tower was closed and an FAA automated flight service stationhttp://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/Landing-737-swerves-to-avoid-snowplough-on-Juneau-runway-236666/
