    <BODY LINK="#0000ff" VLINK="#800080"> <P>US heavy maintenance specialist TIMCO is expanding with a new operating location at Smith Reynolds Airport in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.</P> <P>TIMCO, a wholly owned subsidiary of Miami-based Aviation Sales, is taking over a 23,260m<SUP>2</SUP> (250,000ft<SUP>2</SUP>) hangar which is able to accommodate up to six narrow-body aircraft.</P> <P>A landing gear repair and overhaul and other "back shop" operations will also take place at the new facility.</P> <P>Initially 200-300 mechanics will be employed, although growth is expected to take the job total to 700 over the next couple of years.</P> <P>Aviation Sales' chairman and chief executive, Dale Baker, says: "The lease of the Winston-Salem facility will allow us to immediately continue our growth in airframe and component overhaul."</P> <P>He adds that an advantage of the location is its proximity to TIMCO's existing facility at Greensboro, North Carolina.</P> <P>Aviation Sales provihttp://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/TIMCO-expands-maintenance-capacity-with-new-site-232126/
