    <p>Piaggio Aero Industries (Hall 3, D1) has delivered the first UK-registered P180 Avanti twin-pusher turboprop to Coventry-based charter company Euroskylink, which has operated a leased Avanti under Italian charter company FoxAir's air operator's certificate.</p> <p>Piaggio chief executive Jose Di Mas‚ says of the pioneer delivery: &quot;Piaggio is naturally pleased to have obtained UK certification for the Avanti as the British market is very important to the company.&quot;</p> <p>The aircraft, sold through Piaggio's UK agent Sloane Aviation, will be operated in both executive and air ambulance roles. </p> <p>Ambulance</p> <p>As an air ambulance, the Avanti offers easy accessibility for patient loading, with a large cabin area offering an unobstructed working environment for medical staff to gain full 'head to toe' access for up to two patients on the Lifeport stretcher systems, says the manufacturer.</p> <p>Recently the company announced London City operational approval for thhttp://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/Piaggio-gets-first-P180-into-growing-UK-market-186207/

    <p>Ed Reavis/FRANKFURT </p> <img src='../Assets/GetAsset.aspx?ItemID=3084' /> <p>Two German airports regain economic ground lost when the US Air Force left</p> <p>With the end of the East-West confrontation and the following military drawdown, Germany's economy suffered major after-shocks from the closure of several major US military installations. Among those given up by the US Air Force were Hahn and Zweibrucken, respectively a former Lockheed Martin F-16 fighter base and one that previously housed McDonnell Douglas RF-4 Phantoms reconnaissance aircraft and Shorts C-23 Sherpa transport planes. </p> <p>Both of the former military bases were in the economic backwaters of the Rheinland-Pfalz region and, after the German military showed no interest in either, the communities had only one choice: for economic survival, new users had to be found.
