Aircraft profile: Airbus A318 Elite
The newest of the Airbus Corporate Jetliner (ACJ) family, based on the A318 regional jet, the Elite entered service in May 2007. Manufacturer Airbus has already received many orders for the aircraft which demonstrates the potential for this aircraft.
History:
The A318 is the smallest of the A320 family with a reduced cabin length. The concept was announced at the Farnborough Airshow in 1998 with Pratt & Whitney PW6124 engines selected with the first flight in 2002.
Seven months later a version with CFM56-5B9/P engines was flown. The Elite version was launched in 2005. Launch customer Comlux received the first Elite in May 2007.
