Aircraft Profile: Dassault Falcon 900

The Dassault Falcon 900 family of super-large Trijets, consists of the now retired 900, 900B and 900C, the 900DX and 900EX (to be replaced by the 900LX in 2010).


With its classic Trijet design, the Falcon 900EX, launched in 1994 has a cruise speed of M.74 (882kmh) and is capable of ferrying up to 19 passengers to a range of 4,500nm (8,330km).


Powered by three Honeywell TFE731-60 turbofan engines each providing 5,000lbs (22.24kN) of thrust, two mounted on the sides of the rear fuselage and one on top of the fuselage at the base of the tail, the 900EX was the first aircraft to feature Dassault's EASy avionics suite.


Heritage:


The first 900 series Falcon was announced in 1983 as a development of the Falcon 50. It first flew in 1984 and was certified in March 1986 with its first delivery in December that year. The 900EX was the first of the next generation of 900 family aircraft to receive its FAA certification in 1995, the DX followed in 2005 and the LX is expected to be certified in 2010.
