Aircraft Profile: Embraer Legacy 600
The launch of the super mid-size Legacy 600 in 2000 marked Embraer's foray into the business aviation market.
Featuring a 1,410 ft3 (40.m3) cabin, the Legacy can carry up to 19 passengers and comes in two configurations, the Legacy Executive and the Legacy Corporate Shuttle.
The aircraft is powered by two Rolls-Royce AE 3007 A1E engines each delivering 8,100lb. The aircraft has a cruise speed of 460kt (850kmh) and a range of up to 3,250nm (6,020km).
Featuring Honeywell's Primus 1000 avionics, the 600 is certificated for steep approaches and was for some time the largest business jet able to land at London’s City Airport - the Airbus ACJ seized that mantle in May 2006.
Heritage:
Based on the successful Embraer 135 and 145 regional jet airframe, the Legacy has been modified with the addition of seven-foot winglets for added lift and drag reduction; fuselage reinforcements for underbelly and cargo compartment fuel tanks and a modified fueltransfer system.
First mooted in 1999 and formally unveiled at the Farnborough Airshow in July of the following year, the Legacy 600 first flew in April 2001 and received Brazilian certification eight months later. European and US approval followed in July 2002 and September 2002 respectively.
The 150th Legacy was delivery in June to German operator DC Aviation.
