UAV Profile: Israel Aerospace Industries Heron
The Israel Aerospace Industries Heron is a low wing monoplane with twin tails and single pusher propeller, with multiple variants developed since the medium altitude long endurance type first flew in the mid 1990s.
The Heron has been in operational service with the Israeli air force under the designation Mahatz 1 since March 2007.
Herons have also been in operational service with the Indian air force and navy since 2003 and is due to enter service with the Turkish armed forces Imminently.
The type also forms the basis of the EADS Eagle.
