Dassault has completed mandatory cold weather trials for the Falcon 7X long-range business jet. Testing took place on 6-10 April at Iqaluit and Resolute Bay in northern Canada, where temperatures as low as -33˚C (-25˚F) were recorded. “Despite the brutal weather conditions that included a blizzard during the third day of testing, the 7X performed very well,” says Dassault. System start-up was unaffected by the extreme conditions, Dassault says, and the aircraft’s Pratt & Whitney Canada PW307A engines performed as expected. The 7X also underwent high-speed taxi and aborted take-off tests on gravel and packed runways. Three aircraft in the 1,200h flight-test programme have clocked up 540h to date.
