UK aerospace supplier Meggitt is to provide the Airbus A320neo's fire-detection, engine and auxiliary power unit extinguishing systems.

The manufacturer has confirmed the supply agreement for the re-engined twinjet, a deal which follows the company's integration of its fire-control business with the fire-suppression activities of Pacific Scientific Aerospace.

"This integration has enabled us to compete for, and win, a sole-source position on this exciting programme," says Meggitt Safety Systems president Dennis Hutton, claiming that it has become "increasingly important" for suppliers to offer complete fire-protection capability.
