AACO elects Al Baker to executive board

The Arab Air Carriers Organisation (AACO) has appointed Qatar Airways chief executive Akbar Al Baker to its executive committee.

Al Baker has joined the regional association of 24 Arab League carriers - whose aim is promote cooperation, quality and safety standards - for a three-year term.

When he took over the helm of Qatar Airways in 1997, his goal was, aside from establishing the newly-launched carrier, for "Arab aviation as a whole to reach the pinnacle of the world's aviation industry".

AACO will hold its annual general meeting in Abu Dhabi in November.
