Adelaide airport's total passenger numbers increased by 3.8% to 7.34 million for the financial year to date ending June compared with the same period last year.

The airport's international passenger numbers rose by 15% to 724,000, while capacity rose by 27% for the period.

Domestic passenger numbers grew by 2.9% to 6.01 million due to capacity increases across the network. The Adelaide-Brisbane route provided the largest contribution to growth - 7% - with an additional 48,000 passengers, followed by Melbourne and Sydney with 44,000 and 40,000 additional passengers respectively.

Regional passenger numbers increased by 1.2% to 609,000 year on year.

For the quarter ending June, total passenger numbers rose by 3.6% year on year to 1.8 million. International passenger numbers increased by 20% to 178,000, while domestic passenger numbers went up by 2.7% to 1.47 million. Passenger numbers on regional routes decreased by 3.5% to 146,000.
