General Dynamics has added Advanced Aerospace Solutions (AdvAero) to its team supporting the US FAA's system engineering (SE2020) scheme designed to support development of the next generation (NextGen) air traffic control system.

FAA has awarded $4.4 billion in contracts to General Dynamics, Boeing and ITT to focus on specific areas of NextGen development. Privately-held AdvAvero says its ten-year contract with General Dynamics is worth $1.2 billion. Under SE2020 FAA and its partners plan to use flying laboratories to conduct large scale demonstrations of NextGen concepts, procedures and technologies.

AdvAero's capabilities include rapid-prototyping of emerging technologies throughout all stages of the development cycle, including early simulations to high fidelity flight testing.
