Athar Husain Khan has been appointed as deputy secretary general of the Association of European Airlines (AEA), effective 1 September.
In his new role, Husain Khan will lead AEA's political team and oversee progress on aviation's imminent inclusion in the European Union's emissions trading system.
Prior to the appointment, he served the AEA as general manager of infrastructure. Before joining the association, he was director of government and industry affairs at KLM.
In addition, he worked for the Dutch government as senior policy advisor for aeropolitical affairs and an international traffic rights negotiator.
