Aegean traffic down 6% year-to-date

Aegean Airlines carried 4.87 million passengers in the first nine months of the year, marking a 6% decrease over the same period in 2011.

The Greek carrier's domestic passenger numbers decreased by 13% year-on-year to 2.07 million, while the international figure dipped 1% to 2.8 million.

Load factor increased by 4 percentage points over the same period last year, reaching 72%.

Greece has been a focal point of the Eurozone debt crisis in 2012, with unemployment rising above 25% and rumours persisting about a possible exit from the single currency.
