Irish regional carrier Aer Arann has acquired the first ATR 42/72 full-flight simulator to be sited in Ireland.

The simulator is managed by Simtech Aviation at Dublin Airport. Aer Arann will utilise the simulator as a training facility to train new and current pilots.

"We now have an efficient means on a state-of-the-art facility to perform recurrent training with our existing 100 pilots who, until now, had to travel to France at least twice per year," says Aer Arann director of operations John Halpin.

He says the carrier is also offering third-party training for ATR type ratings. The simulator is certified by the Irish Aviation Authority to Level C.
