While Aer Lingus pilots have backed a cost-cutting proposal, cabin crew have voted against a similar package of efficiency measures.

The package was negotiated between Aer Lingus and the trade union Impact through the Irish Labour Relations Commission last November.

But cabin crew have rejected the proposal, with 64% voting against it, despite Impact's recommendation for approval.

Impact admits that certain parts of the scheme were expected to be "difficult" for cabin crew to accept, particularly coming in the wake of a previously-agreed set of cuts.
