Aer Lingus says it will take two Airbus A320s under medium term operating lease contracts for its Virgin Atlantic wet-lease operation.
Last December, the Irish flag carrier confirmed a preliminary agreement with Virgin Atlantic for a total of four A320s to operate domestic UK routes from London Heathrow to Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Manchester.
Two A320s will be redeployed from Aer Lingus's mainline short-haul fleet and a further two A320s will be secured under operating leases.
The four aircraft would be used initially for a three-year wet lease and would operate for Virgin from 31 March 2013.
Aer Lingus also announced that two A319s will join the fleet under operating leases this year to replace two A320s.
