AerCap chief executive Aengus Kelly says the operating lessor expects to sign a deal "in the coming weeks" on a recently repossessed Airbus A320 from Switzerland.
Last month, Swiss carrier Hello ceased operations after declaring bankruptcy. A 1998-build aircraft, MSN 0936, was on lease from AerCap.
Kelly says the aircraft was repossessed within 24 hours.
He adds that he expects a strengthening of lease rates going forward, saying: "The A320 lease rates started to firm again earlier this year and we see this trend developing in the A319 market.
"The A319 has a large user base and there'll always be a home for this aircraft, unlike old technology aircraft."
"In 2012 alone, we saw 14 new operators for the A319 type and we continuously see an increase in demand from our customer base," he adds.
According to AerCap, new leases on new aircraft have averaged 65 months since the beginning of the year.
