Operating lessor AerCap completed sales involving 55 aircraft in the fourth quarter to 31 December including the 50 units that made up its Air Lease Securitisation (ALS) portfolio.
During the fourth quarter, AerCap sold its equity interest in ALS to Guggenheim Partners.
It also signed new lease agreements for 13 aircraft during the fourth quarter and 10 aircraft under contracted lease agreements.
The Amsterdam-based lessor completed 10 aircraft deliveries under contracted lease agreements in the fourth quarter, bringing total deliveries in 2012 to 35 aircraft.
It also purchased four new Boeing 737-800s and two new Airbus A330-300s during the quarter. For the year, AerCap purchased a total of 20 aircraft.
AerCap also sold one Boeing 737-300, one Boeing 737-500 and one Boeing 757-200 from its managed portfolio. In addition to the completed sales transactions, AerCap signed agreements for the sale of two new A330-300s and one new 737-800 from its owned portfolio.
The lessor sold a total of 70 aircraft in 2012 and signed an agreement for the sale of four aircraft, which still need to be delivered. It also signed letters of intent for the sale of five aircraft.
In the fourth quarter, AerCap closed financing transactions for approximately $670 million and inked deals of $1.5 billion for the year.
The lessor ended the year with 333 aircraft that were either owned, on order, under contract, letter of intent, purchase option, or managed.
