AerCap has sold "more than 200 aircraft with an average 0f 12 years" during the past several years, including this week's Aircraft Lease Securitisation equity disposal, accoridng to its chief executive.

Speaking on a conference call, AerCap's Aengus Kelly said the lessor has sold "over $2 billion worth of aircraft and non-core assets in the past 18 months alone."

Kelly says the ALS sale will reduce the average age of AerCap's fleet to 5.1 years and will "further balance the portfolio between Airbus and Boeing products."

Aercap's aircraft sales to date have been primarily focused on the "sell-down of older, out-of-production equipment", he says.
