EADS's French aerostructure subsidiary Aerolia and Abu Dhabi-based Tawazun Precision Industry (TPI) have agreed to set up a production facilty for large Airbus A320 and A330 components in the United Arab Emirates.
The plant will be built under TPI's leadership and concentrate on "detail" aluminium alloy parts for the two twinjet families. These will be readily available to Airbus for further assembly of aircraft on a "turnkey" basis, suggesting a straight delivery to Airbus' production lines.
Aerolia manufactures the nose fuselage section, among other components, for all Airbus models currently in production.
The company has three manufacturing sites in France - Méaulte, St Nazaire and Toulouse - as well as a subsidiary site in Tunis, Tunesia, where it fabricates sub-assemblies.
