SkyTeam carrier Aerolineas Argentinas has confirmed plans to abandon its loss-making, Airbus A340-operated route to Sydney, Australia.

The airline plans to terminate the route on 2 April 2014 and will redeploy its aircraft capacity to reinforce more profitable destinations in Europe.

The airline says that after eliminating a stop in Auckland, load factors fell and the ultra long-haul nonstop service to Sydney was no longer economically viable.
