Aeromexico and Delta Air Lines have submitted a joint application to the US Department of Transportation for flights between Chicago and Cancun.
The Mexican carrier would operate the service four-times weekly on a Boeing 737, according to the filing on 20 September. The flights would carry Atlanta-based Delta’s code.
The flights would likely operate from Chicago O’Hare, which Aeromexico already serves.
The application comes following approvals for new service on Aeromexico between Chicago and Ixtapa/Zihuatenejo, and Puerto Vallarta earlier this year.
American Airlines and United Airlines operate flights between O’Hare and Cancun, and Southwest Airlines’ subsidiary AirTran Airways operates flights between Chicago Midway and the Mexican leisure destination, Innovata schedules show.
