Aeromexico will operate its first Boeing 787 to Monterrey and Tijuana in Mexico in October, after the aircraft is delivered in August.
The SkyTeam carrier will receive its first 787 in the "first half of August", it says today, in line with earlier statements that it would get the aircraft in August.
Aeromexico will operate the 787 on flights between Mexico City and Monterrey, and between Mexico City and Tijuana on 1 October. It will then deploy the aircraft on its flights to New York John F. Kennedy (JFK) International airport from 2 October to 13 October.
On 14 October, the 787 will launch the airline's inaugural flight between Mexico City and Tokyo. It will operate on the route thrice a week, says Aeromexico.
The airline will receive its second and third 787s in September, and will operate the aircraft on its daily Mexico City-Paris flights as well as selected weekly flights to New York, it says.
Aeromexico has orders for nine 787-8s and six 787-9s, as well as options for another four 787-9s.
