Aeromexico has operated its first Boeing 787 international revenue flights, flying between New York and Mexico City today.

The SkyTeam carrier will deploy the 787 on one of its four daily flights on the route, it says. The 787 flights to New York come earlier than expected as the airline had previously indicated it would operate the new aircraft type on the route from October.

Aeromexico will deploy the 787 on its new flights between Mexico City and Tokyo from 14 October, and then to Paris from 24 October. It will operate the aircraft type on its Mexico City-Cancun route from 10 October, it says.

Aeromexico took delivery of its first 787 on 15 August. It has orders for nine 787-8s and six 787-9s, as well as options for another four 787-9s.

The airline's 787-8s are configured with 32 lie-flat seats in business class and 211 in economy.
