Aeromexico operating profit falls in Q2

Aeromexico has posted an operating profit of 744 million Mexican pesos ($54.3 million) in the second quarter, down 24.2% from the corresponding quarter a year ago.

Net profit fell 73.8% to 153 million pesos for the three months ended 30 June, says the SkyTeam carrier.

Revenues grew 15.2% to 9.91 billion pesos, but operating expenses grew 20.1% to 8.13 billion pesos.

Passenger traffic during the quarter grew 4% while capacity rose 7%. The passenger load factor fell 2.5 percentage points to 76.6%. Passenger numbers rose 2% to 3.62 million.

Yields rose 5.7% to 1.563 peso, says Aeromexico. The airline ended the quarter with 109 aircraft in its fleet, nine more than what it had a year ago.
