A merger between Afriqiyah Airways and Libyan Airlines is even more probable after the end of the conflict in Libya according to Afriqiyah's chief executive Rammah Ettir.

Speaking to Flightglobal Pro at the African Airline Association's (AFRAA) 43rd annual general assembly in Marrakech, Morocco, Ettir said it was still too early to say whether a merger would definitely take place but added recent developments in the country have made a tie-up even more likely.

A long-proposed full merger between Libyan Airlines and Afriqiyah Airways would see the airlines combine operations from a base in Tripoli. The two carriers are already under a single holding company, Libyan African Aviation.
