German carrier Air Berlin is to acquire three Boeing 787 aircraft from US lessor International Lease Finance (ILFC).

The airline placed an order earlier this year for 25 787s and took options and purchase rights on another 25.

While Air Berlin had said it would take these aircraft between 2013 and 2017, ILFC says that the three 787s are scheduled for delivery in May 2011.

It has identified these aircraft as 787-8s which will bear serial numbers 35313, 35320 and 38756. No engine selection has been given.

Air Berlin will take the aircraft on 12-year lease terms.
