Boeing is reportedly in exclusive talks with Air Canada to sell at least 50 737 Max aircraft.
The potential $5.2 billion deal, reported first by the Wall Street Journal, means Air Canada may have reversed course over the past week.
Sources told Flightglobal on 2 December that Air Canada’s management was poised to seek board approval to order Airbus A320neos instead.
Both manufacturers are keen to secure the order from the long-time A320 family customer.
Air Canada competes in a domestic market with low-cost carrier WestJet, which has an all-737 fleet.
